Dear Parents,
Hello, my name is Cecily Wright, I am excited to be your child’s teacher for 2nd grade! A little history about me, I am a mother of 2, I have a 13 year old son and a 6 year old daughter, both attend school here in the Deer Valley School District. I have been teaching for over 13 years, I spent 8 years in Kindergarten and the past 3 years in 2nd grade. I graduated from Northern Arizona University with my Maters in Education; I also hold an Endorsement in Reading and Early Childhood.
Your child’s educational success is my number one priority but I cannot do this alone. With all of us working as a team your child can succeed in ways that are unimaginable. We will work very hard this year. Your child is ready to learn and excited about it and I am excited to be teaching them. Each and every one of your children are very important to me. As parents, I ask that you do the following at home with your child daily: Practice Math Facts, make sure that your child reads to you for at least twenty minutes, make sure that your child studies their spelling nightly, and make sure that your child gets the rest that they need to be a responsible and productive student. Your Child will have nightly homework. This will usually be 1 page of reading or writing and 1 page of Math. Also in your child’s green Go Folder there will be a Reading Log, please use this sheet to log your child’s nightly reading and is also due by the end of the month.
I believe that children can exceed beyond what we as adults think that they are capable of and I will be challenging your child. I want them to love learning so that it will carry on throughout their educational future.
In order for us to have a safe and productive learning environment I need to let you know that I do adhere strictly to the Make Your Day program. When a child is disruptive in class it takes away from the education of all participants, including your child. I want each child in my classroom to have the same educational opportunity so I cannot tolerate constant disruptions.
I am very excited for this up and coming year and I hope your child is as well. Please feel free to come and visit your child's classroom and share in their educational experience or contact me with any and all concerns.
